I got a critque on a site for those a bit ago, one that made me very, irritated honestly. The reviewer complained about the forgien languages used by Ashriel and Seifer, forigen for the reviewer anyway, another reviewer was confused but wasn't as hung up on the language and was happy to see Ashriel's primary form of communication outside the common tongue spoken in his species language that readers will just see as english, is romanian as they were romanian.
So that was nice, and i understand them not understanding that cajun isn't english, but the other reviewer complained about Seifer's Cajun and Creole usage.
Called it french or spanish, mistaking it for french i can forgive, but spanish?
It made no sense.
I created my community of Bayou dwelling Spectri vampires for a fucking reason.
The only change I am going to make is probably switching Seifer to Louisiana Creole, Kouri-Vini, instead and have someone else in his family main Haitian creole.
Kouri-Vini is an endangered language as it stands, and the Louisiana Bayou feeling is the overall vibe of his particular community of blues/jazz/rock vampire musician covens.
